Telling Our Story

The Rural and Smaller Membership Church Commission has created resources to help local churches and extension ministries tell their stories of faithful engagement with God and with each other.

Throughout the pages of scripture, the story of God’s activity through creation and humanity is made evident.  In Deuteronomy, we read about the importance of passing the story from generation to generation:

Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.  Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart.  Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.  Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem on your forehead, and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

How do we do this?  Or better yet, ARE we doing this?  In all of our churches, there are stories to be told, but we do not take the time to tell them, write them down and pass them on.  The resources found at this page help you “Tell your story…”

Click on these links to find various resources which will assist you as you gather and tell your stories:

Our prayer is that these materials will be a blessing to your church and community as you TELL YOUR STORY… and as your story continues to unfold into the future, that you will continue to TELL YOUR STORY!
