Skyline fundraising event to honor OCU athletics director

Skyline Urban Ministry will honor an athletics director at its annual fundraising event in Oklahoma City. A Night of Health and Hope with Skyline will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Aug. 6 at Chicken N Pickle, an indoor-outdoor sports bar and restaurant that features pickleball courts.
“Our goal is to raise $100,000 to support the mission of Skyline throughout the next year,” the event page states. “Proceeds from this event will go toward providing clothing, food and eye care to those struggling with resources in our community.”
Jim Abbott, the director of athletics at Oklahoma City University, will receive the 2021 Skyline Service Award. Under his leadership over the past 11 years, coaches and players have collected 108,000 lbs of food for Skyline.
Tickets for the event are $50 per person, with additional cost for tournament teams, contests and challenges. There will also be food, a cash bar, a silent auction, and unlimited yard games.
