Resources help rural and small churches tell their story
Rural Life Sunday calls the church to celebrate the rural heritage of The United Methodist Church. In light of celebrating this heritage, the Rural and Small Membership Church Commission has compiled a series of resources to help churches do just that.
This collection of resources is called “Tell your story...” and it serves as a guide to help churches collect stories from their past and pass them down to future generations.
The toolkit was launched at the 2022 Annual Conference in May. It includes worship resources such as hymns, scripture readings, liturgy, prayers, a video, and a model sermon. It also includes a checklist of where to look for historical documents of the church and community as well as a two to three session guide for collecting and telling multi-generational stories.
