Bishop John Russell died Sept. 2. Russell spent twenty years leading churches in the Oklahoma Conference such as OKC-Village, Enid-First, and Tulsa-Boston Avenue. He also served an interim appointment as the Tulsa District Superintendent. He was elected to the episcopacy in 1980 and assigned to the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. In 1988 he was assigned to the newly created Fort Worth Area where he served until his retirement in 1992. Service was held on Sept. 9 at First UMC in Fort Worth, Texas.

Rev. Perla Goody passed away on Aug. 14. She was 77 years old. Goody was appointed as a chaplain at Pauls Valley General Hospital Hospice. A service was held at Pauls Valley on Aug. 20.

Rev. Charles Wayne Hanna passed away on Sept. 5. Hanna retired in 1998 after serving United Methodist Churches in Nardin, Oologah, Alfalfa, Carnegie, Skiatook, Bristow, Atoka/New Zion, Valiant/Wright City, Wapanucka/Clarita and Quinton/Kinta. He continued in ministry at Kellyville after retirement. Hanna is survived by his wife Vera and five children. A memorial service was held on Sept. 9 at Kellyville UMC.
