OKUMC VIM to hold Mission Leadership Training
Leaders in the Oklahoma Conference will host a Mission Leadership Training on Feb. 26, 2022 at OKC-New Hope. The keynote speaker will be Rev. Lucas Endicott, the associate director of mission, service and justice ministries for the Missouri Conference and regional director of course of study school at Saint Paul School of Theology.
Endicott has worked in the Missouri Conference’s missions office since 2015. His work at the conference has helped expand their global mission outreach. At Saint Paul, he helps administer a five-year learning experience that focuses on the theory and application of pastoral leadership. The program for licensed local pastors was developed at the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry.
Several conference leaders will teach workshops, including Rev. Derrek Belase, the director of connectional ministries; Rev. Carlos Ramirez, the coordinator of Hispanic/Latino ministry; Rev. Bessie Hamilton, associate director of connectional ministry for multi-ethnic initiatives; Lori Foster, associate director of connectional ministry for missions, and more.
Participants of the Mission Leadership Training will choose two workshops, and everyone will hear the keynote address. Workshop choices include Community Engagement and Development, Mission Committee, Mission and Discipleship, Mission Insite, Mission and Young Adults, and VIM/Youthforce Team Leaders .The leadership training is $60 with a meal included in the cost. Community Development Engaging the Community: Become strategic in your community development to maximize your efforts. Hear real-life examples and techniques that may be translated to your own mission field.
Local Church Mission Committee: Envision how your church can be involved in God’s mission with some careful and honest planning. Small and rural churches are especially encouraged to attend.
Mission and Discipleship: Utilizing a systems approach, this course will explore various models as well as MissionInsite data and general community information to help congregational leaders gain a greater understanding of needs, challenges, and ministry opportunities.
MissionInsite: Through this workshop, you will be introduced to MissionInsite. This workshop is designed to explore the capabilities and possibilities of applying this tool to the work of your local congregation.
Mission and Young Adults: “Where are the young adults?” We will discuss what young adults are seeking spiritually and the best ways to engage and excite them within your church.
VIM/Youth Force Team Leaders: This workshop is for anyone interested in leading VIM teams and or Youth Force groups. We will go over the steps and best practices for leading VIM teams. Learn the paperwork, the insurance, travel and more.
