Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church

Oklahoma and Chile Conferences join together for joint Epiphany service

The Oklahoma Conference joined together with the Chile Conference for a joint Epiphany service. The service was released on the Oklahoma Conference’s YouTube channel.

Ministry leaders from both conferences contributed to the service which was held in multiple languages. Both English and Spanish subtitles were provided on screen.

Music was provided by lay servant Judy Horne, the Norman-McFarlin children’s choir, and singers from Iglesia Metodista in Nueva Imperial. Bishop Jame Nunn offered the opening greeting in English, Rev. Fuxia Wang read the scripture in Chinese, and Chilean Bishop Jorge Merino Riffo preached in Spanish.

The two conferences signed a covenant together since 2019, but their missional partnership spans more than 30 years. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the conferences have partnered together to offer joint prayers, encourage one another in service to the community, and learned from one another via zoom discussions.

Watch the joint Epiphany service on the OKUMC YouTube channel. To learn more about the ongoing partnership between the Oklahoma and Chile conferences, visit www.facebook.com/groups/walkwithchile.
