OK Camps hires two site directors

OK Camps has hired two new site directors. Tony Thomas is the new site director for Cross Point Camp, and Penn Henthorn is the new site director for Egan Camp and Retreat Center.

Thomas, who spent 29 years in retail and food management, was hired to lead Cross Point in April and managed the site during this year’s largest summer camp season since 2019. He said the camp is already planning some changes and additions to improve the Cross Point experience.

“Cross Point is a place that is special,” Thomas said. “The moment you arrive on the property, you can feel the Spirit, you can see God, feel God’s peace. I want this place to continue being that place for everyone.”

Henthorn served as the Director of Camps and Programs with Camp Fire Heart between 2011 and 2022. He also volunteers in several capacities in organizations such as the American Camp Association. He grew up attending camps, and they impacted his view on the world.

“I never felt like I fit in with others, except at camp. Camp helped me to discover my passions and to feel connected to nature and God’s creations,” Henthorn said. “I found my spark for helping others and working to make a positive difference in the world. It helped me to see the impact I had on others, and to understand how important it is to serve.”
