OIMC hosts annual benefit gala
The Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference hosted its fifth annual benefit gala on Oct. 17 at The Reed Center in Midwest City. The event featured a live paint by Brent Greenwood, friendship songs and stomp dances by the Chickasaw Nation Dance Troupe, and both silent and live auctions.
“Would you all like to see revival happen in the United Methodist Church? I think it’s already happening in the OIMC,” said Bishop Jimmy Nunn during his address. “We are here because of the call of God on our hearts, we are here because of the OIMC, and we are here because God is bringing renewal to our conference.”
All proceeds benefitted the OIMC’s permanent endowment for pastoral leadership. The endowment will help the OIMC raise the base salary of full-time elders, which is the lowest in the country. Rev. David Wilson said that the fund would total approximately $2.2 million after the event.
