Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church

Conference leaders offer important reminders for AC 2022

OKUMC Announcement

Greetings in the name of Christ. The May session of the Oklahoma Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church is scheduled for May 23-26.

Registration for AC 2022 closes May 10. Please make sure you have registered by then. If you need to update your registration, that also needs to be completed by May 10. Look for your initial confirmation email to accomplish this. If you need assistance, contact Mary Myers.

The conference held three live pre-conference briefings. Many of you were able to join those, but in case you were not able to, there is a recorded session found here. If you have further questions not answered in the recording, please send them to ac2022@okumc.org and we will answer them.

Voting will take place in-person at Oklahoma City University. Delegates will need to have a device with internet connectivity vis cellular date or wifi in order to access the voting system. GNTV will be present to manage the voting system, and the conference tellers will be present to answer individual questions about the voting system.

This year, your Voter ID will not be sent out in advance. You will receive it, along with your badge, when you check in at Annual Conference in the Freede Center at Oklahoma City University.

The Pre-Conference Workbook has been published and can be found at our conference information hub. The Workbook will not be published or sent to members of the conference. It will need to be downloaded and either printed or saved on your own device for retrieval.

In past years, we often offered a “block” of hotel rooms in the OKC area at a reduced rate. Hotels now tell us that it is cheaper for you to book directly with them or to use other booking sites. However, there is an individual exemption form regarding the OKC hotel tax. You can find that form here along with information about reserving a room on the OCU campus.

This year’s conference special offering benefits the capital fund campaign for the 60th anniversary of the Circle of Care Boys Ranch. Funds will support four new homes, recreational development and improvements, infrastructure improvements, office renovation, and other improvements. The funding will help expand the ranch’s capacity to care for 24 children and teenagers at once. You can give when you register or at this site. Your church is also encouraged to collect a special offering and send it with your lay member or clergy person.

There is a special concert benefitting the Angie Smith Chapel stained glass window restoration project. You can purchase as many tickets as you would like. You can do that when you register for annual conference or you can purchase them here. This will be a beautiful evening of music and special presentations. Share the word with others – all are invited!

Finally, we want you to know that Cokesbury, our UM publishing house, will not have a display at this year’s annual conference session. However, they are offering some great discounts and special offers right now. If you want to know more about those, please review this online document.

There is much more information at our annual conference hub. Check there for everything you need to prepare to be in OKC from May 23 through 26. Email ac2022@okumc.org with further questions regarding this year’s session of annual conference.

Thank you for your service,

Joe Harris, conference secretary
