Clergy spend day with bishop Nov. 5
On Nov. 5, acclaimed church adviser Lovett Weems will headline the "Bishop’s Day Apart" at OKC-St. Luke’s.
"The Challenges We Face" is theme for the program designed for all Oklahoma’s clergy serving under appointment.
Bishop Robert Hayes Jr. said, "We will explore the ever-changing landscape of ministry. Dr. Lovett Weems is one of the most respected leaders in our Church today. His insights will inspire, provoke, and challenge us to embrace our future.
"It promises to be a great day!"
The program will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in St. Luke’s Christian Life Center and will include lunch.
Weems directs the Lewis Center for Church Leadership at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. He served 18 years as president of Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Mo., and was a church pastor in his home state of Mississippi.
He co-edits the online newsletter Leading Ideas, available free at www.ChurchLeadership.com, and is the author of several books.
While in Oklahoma, Weems also will meet with the Oklahoma Annual Conference corporation, chaired by Judy Benson.
The Bishop’s Day Apart is coordinated by the Orders Planning Team.
