Albright UMW makes 172 Christmas stockings

The United Methodist Women’s group from Albright have sewed and decorated 172 Christmas stockings by hand to give out during the Christmas season.
The completed stockings will be taken to the Cookson Hills Center in eastern Oklahoma where they will be “stuffed” at the UMW Toole Tyme event. Stockings will be given to clients when they shop at the Cookson Hills Center Christmas store in December.
The Cookson Hills Center has been a significant part of the mission work of the UMW in Oklahoma since 1948. The primary target groups for their services are rural low-income people in Northeastern Oklahoma, primarily Native Americans of the Cherokee tribe.
In addition to the ladies of the church, the girls of local Girl Scout troop 2170 assisted in helping decorate the stockings. The local troop is under the leadership of Sara Palmer.
