Ceremonies in mid-October officially open case-management centers in Shawnee and El Reno for the Oklahoma Disaster Recovery Project, a collaboration by five major nonprofits, including The United Methodist Church. A third center is in Moore. Far left, Richard Norman helps wield the ribbon-cutting scissors at the Shawnee center. Rev. Norman is UM disaster response coordinator, in the Conference’s Office of Mission, and chairs Oklahoma VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster). Above, beside a Red Cross sign in El Reno are, from left, Sally and Curt Brown, Norman, and Julie and Tim Barnhart. Curt is UM construction manager for the entire Project, and Tim is UM construction supervisor for the Project’s El Reno branch. Sally is a case manager with Salvation Army. Julie serves in the El Reno branch’s Volunteer Reception Center. |
