Oklahoma Conference's United Methodist family reconnects as the denomination's Council of Bishops meets in Oklahoma City. Active and retired episcopal leaders gathered Nov. 2-7 for their semi-annual meeting.
The Council met here once before, in 1978.

The service of Bishop Robert Hayes Jr. (Oklahoma Area, 2004- ), and Bishop John Wesley Hardt (Oklahoma Area, 1980-88) bookends 34 years of episcopal leadership for the Oklahoma Conference and Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference.
Retired Bishop Bill Oden was elected from
Oklahoma in 1988, and his service included
the Council’s presidency.
