Foundation welcomes 4 new trustees
At the April Board of Trustees meeting, the Foundation welcomed four new members: Woodward District Superintendent David Burris, Gary Farabough of Ardmore, Don Kim of Oklahoma City, and Lynne McGuire of Norman. Rev. Burris and Dr. Kim will serve on the Foundation’s Outreach Committee (formerly Planned Giving), while Farabough and McGuire will serve on the Finance Committee (formerly Operations). The Foundation also celebrated the service of three trustees who rotated off the board. G.T. Blankenship of Oklahoma City, a senior member of the board, served for 24 years in various leadership capacities, including chairing the board from 1998 to 2002. Tom Harrison of Tulsa and Melinda Miles of Geary both served on the board for 16 years, lending their expertise to the Finance Committee. We are grateful for the leadership and dedication of these members. Annual grants awarded from the Clergy Endowment Fund The Foundation’s Clergy Endowment Fund recently awarded annual grants. The fund’s grant-making committee awarded $5,300 this year to Oklahoma United Methodist causes. The grants include scholarships for seminary students at Saint Paul School of Theology at Oklahoma City University, Project Transformation’s summer literacy program, Criminal Justice & Mercy Ministry’s New Day Camps, and pastoral training. The Clergy Endowment Fund also has supported ministries such as Cookson Hills Center, the Clergy Covenant Crisis Fund, new church starts, other scholarships, and much more. Contributing to this fund is a great way to honor your clergy and clergy families. Gifts of all sizes come from people of all backgrounds. Some donors are family and friends of clergy, church committees, and Sunday School classes. Giving to the Clergy Endowment Fund honors and memorializes active, retired, and deceased clergy. Visit the Foundation’s website to make your contribution, or call 800-259-6863 to find out how you can honor the life of a clergy who made a difference in your life. |
