Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church

Lots to explore on second floor

5/17/2013

A smorgasbord of booths, tables of books, and trays of cookies will greet all who venture onto the second floor of OCU’s Freede Center on Tuesday through Thursday.

  • The Retired Clergy Benefit Book Sale will occupy the west end of the second-floor hallway.

This is a new location for the sale. At previous Annual Conferences in Oklahoma City, the gently used books, clergy robes, etc. were sold from a separate building.

This annual project supports the Clergy Crisis Fund.

  • Among the groups preparing booths is the ecumenical committee of the Mission & Service Ministry Team (MSMT). Officer Twila Gibbens said pictures of Christian unity and interreligious events in Oklahoma will be displayed.

The committee is the local arm of the denomination’s Office of Christian Unity & Interreligious Relationships (OCUIR). In brief, the office seeks to "be both neighbors and witnesses." Find out more in the 2012 Book of Discipline, pages 88 and 342.

  • The hospitality room will be housed in the Leichter Center on the second floor.
