Communications team samples delegates' views by using multiple tools

The Department of Communications educated delegates about QR ("quick read") codes for mobile devices, during its interactive report May 30.

Chairman Shari Goodwin of the Communications board also posed four questions that Annual Conference participants answered by text messaging, Facebook posts, tweeting, or using a printed form. Here are the Q&A results.

  • Which of these sections of our Conference website is most helpful to you?

News: 49 responses. Training: 16. Online forms: 106. Church/clergy locator: 33.

  • Did you experience General Conference this year, either in person as a delegate or alternate, or through live streaming?

Yes: 98 responses. No: 23.

  • If you were to attend a communications training hosted by our department, what topic would be most interesting or most helpful to you?

Social media: 80 responses. Crisis communications: 31. Copyright issues: 10. More effective newsletters: 54.

  • Have you taken advantage of the great offers in the QR, or Quick Read, codes found around the building and in your conference promotional booklet?

Yes: 43 responses. No: 137.

Both worship and business sessions of the Annual Conference were live-streamed. A total of 648 unique viewers were reported, with the highest daily total recorded Tuesday.
