Weekend event for teen girls The book "Dating Mr. Darcy: A Smart Girl’s Guide to Sensible Romance" is the primary resource for an event March 9-11 at Frederick-First UMC. The Beautiful Promises weekend, open to girls in grades six through 12, is offered by the Isabella Circle of United Methodist Women at the Frederick church. The circle of young women focuses on mentoring teen girls. Leading will be Sarah Arthur of Michigan, a youth speaker and the book’s author. She earned her master’s at Duke. Her other books include "Walking With Frodo: A Devotional Guide Through the Lord of the Rings." Worship leaders will be Kris and Lisa Leininger of Edmond. Contact the church: 580-335-7505.
Women packing for Abilene trip Oklahoma’s United Methodist Women will join other UMW members from eight states on June 22-24 in Abilene, Texas, for the 2012 South Central Jurisdictional UMW Meeting. Theme is "Women Responding to God’s Love and Grace," based on Luke 1:46-48. The quadrennial meeting will include the election of Women’s Division directors, worship, and workshops that include "Sandwich Generation," "Technie Nimblefingers," and "Going Green Issues."
