Chouteau awards scholarships
Estate gifts have provided college scholarships from Chouteau UMC to about a dozen students annually. At the end of this school year, 11 young people received awards. Chouteau UMC members Bill Human and Orpha Cox established estate funds through the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation, to award scholarships to members of their church and to seniors from the local high school. The Chouteau church is responsible for selecting recipients. This year’s Scholarship Committee recommended money gifts for three students who are attending college and are part of the church family. The high school graduates each received $500. A grant of $2,000 went to each college student, and that grant award will continue for four years if recipients continue their studies. The church-family recipients were Chelsea Sullivan, Chris Ingram, and Nick Harris. |
