UMC SCOUT SUNDAY (Edmond-First UMC)
SCOUT SUNDAY—When Troop 77 celebrated its 80th year at Edmond-First UMC, two Boy Scouts spoke to the congregation about the program’s positive influence on them. Tyler Carr, age 13, said he’s learned responsibility as he shoveled snow for neighbors and volunteered at Edmond’s HOPE Center. Eighth-grader Weston Campbell pointed out the boys in the troop make the decisions, with adults providing resources. On Scout Sunday in February, troop members greeted worshippers, sang with the choir, and conducted flag ceremonies. The Scout Law includes "A Scout is reverent." Edmond-First pastor is Bertha Potts. Scoutmaster is Jeff Lampe, and Jim Hagar is charter organization representative. —From Edmond Life & Leisure
