 Bishop Robert Hayes Jr. accepts an autographed hymnal from Elaine Robinson, dean of Saint Paul School of Theology at Oklahoma City University. To raise scholarship funds for the United Methodist seminary’s students, the Oklahoma bishop submitted to an evening of roasts and toasts Dec. 2 at OCU. Former Miss America and OCU alumna Jayne Jayroe Gamble was emcee; and speakers included the bishop's sister Lauri Hayes Fluker, Oklahoma Conference Lay Leader Judy Benson, and David Wilson of the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference. Charter Donors gave $65,275 as of Dec. 20. The bishop said, "The people helped by this are going to make a difference for the Kingdom of God." |
