Nominations sought for Milhouse Award
The University Church Relations Office is seeking nominations for the 2010 Bishop Paul W. Milhouse Award.
Established in 1982, this award recognizes United Methodist laypersons who demonstrate outstanding leadership in their communities, their local churches, and the Oklahoma Conference, in addition to being advocates of the partnership between OCU and the Church.
This award is presented annually at the University Church Relations Christmas dinner, which honors people who, through their gifts of time, money, and encouragement, have increased United Methodist Church ownership of Oklahoma City University.
During his episcopal tenure, 1968-80, Bishop Milhouse provided outstanding leadership during a difficult time, calling the Church back to ownership of the university and setting it on a solid foundation. Among previous Milhouse Award recipients are Morris Permenter, JoAnn McNaught, and Elliott Fenton and Ruby Lu Simpson.
The Church Relations Office invites nominations of outstanding laity who express their faith in concrete ways in the community and in support of OCU.
Anyone wishing to nominate someone for this award may contact Maggie Ball, vice-president of University Church Relations, for an application. Rev. Ball may be reached by e-mail to mball@okcu.edu or by calling 405-208-5060.
Oct. 1 is the deadline for receiving all nominations.
