Campus ministry - District effort connects with Altus college students
|
In Altus, leaders report a successful service year is concluding for the United Methodist College Ministry at Western Oklahoma State College. Attendance has more than tripled this school year, according to Director George Lupton. Churches in Clinton District cooperate to reach out through the campus ministry. Highland Heights UMC in Altus furnished the location to serve a regular luncheon to students and staff. Meals and devotions were provided by groups from Altus-First, Altus-Grace, Blair, Duke, and Altus-Highland Heights. Rev. Lupton stated, "The goal was to physically and spiritually feed the students and staff. This was done extremely well by our local churches, and the meals and devotions were well received." He continued, "The connection of all churches was outstanding. We gave the students an escape from studies for an hour to reflect and just relax." |
