Moore-First groundbreaking set March 28
Moore-First UMC will break ground for its building project at 9 a.m. on Palm Sunday, March 28. A reception will follow the ceremony, and then Bishop Robert Hayes Jr. will be the guest preacher for the 10:30 a.m. worship service. A palm parade, candle lighting, and welcome ritual for the Confirmation class are also part of that service. The church address is 201 W. Main St., and pastor is Tish Malloy. Because of the special activities, early worship and church school will not be held.
New deadline for 5-Star award Deadline has been extended to apply for the Five-Star Church Award from the Oklahoma Conference Board of Global Ministries. The awards, for mission projects in 2009, will be presented at Annual Conference. Find the application form at: www.okumc.org/page.asp?PKValue=618. National training for larger churches Oklahoma’s bishop, Robert Hayes Jr., is one of 10 episcopal leaders who will share during an evening of "holy conversation" with senior pastors of large congregations, at a national training event April 12-15 in San Antonio. University UMC in San Antonio is host site for "Large Church Initiative 2010," an event especially developed for churches with weekly worship attendance of 350 or more.
