Wedding Rev. Sandra Reeves and Mark Shepherd married on Jan. 9 at Pond Creek. She is pastor of Jefferson and Renfrow churches. In memoriam Rev. George Palmer Rev. George Samuel Palmer, 82, of Guthrie died Jan. 23, 2010. George was born June 11, 1927, in Henryetta. He was ordained as a United Methodist elder in 1967 and retired in 1993. He began his ministry career in 1961, as a student pastor. He served at Dustin, Porum, Fort Gibson, Woodall, Coweta, Porter, Pond Creek, Ada-Asbury, Jay, Sand Springs, Prattville, Heavener, Elgin, Thomas, Keyes, and Alex. Survivors include a son and daughter, George Timothy Palmer and Pamela Sue Crown, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by Patricia Palmer, his wife of 56 years. Service was Jan. 27 at Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond. Zula Higgins Zula Higgins, 84, of Stigler died Feb. 2, 2010. She was the wife of Rev. Bill Higgins, retired pastor. She was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Keota. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Higgins; five daughters, Charlotte Idleman and Myrna Parrish, both of Stigler, Willene McKee of Broken Arrow, Darla Dunham of Coweta, and Shanna Snyder of Hidden Hills, Calif.; a son, Ronald Higgins of Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons. Funeral was Feb. 5 at Stigler UMC, with arrangements by Mallory-Martin Funeral Home. Carol Campbell Caroline "Carol" June Campbell, 75, of Sulphur died Feb. 1, 2010. She was the widow of Rev. Joseph "Joe" Campbell Jr. He died in 2002. Carol was born Oct. 7, 1934, St. Joseph, Mo. She and Rev. Campbell married on Feb. 20, 1955, in McLouth, Kan. For many years, she was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. After moving to Sulphur, she worked as a cook at Oklahoma Veterans Center and was an active member of Sulphur UMC. Survivors include three children: Bill, Jolene, and Patsy; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral was Feb. 4 at Sulphur UMC, directed by Hale’s Krien Funeral Home, Sulphur.
