InfoServ will discontinue phone service
On April 1, phone support through InfoServ will be discontinued. InfoServ is the official information support service of The United Methodist Church. Beginning April 1, the service will answer United Methodist questions exclusively through e-mail and online connections. The change is one of several made recently by United Methodist Communications (UMCom) in response to a budget deficit and restructuring plans. "Telephone calls to InfoServ have been decreasing over the past couple of years, as more people take advantage of the Web or use e-mail to request information," said Larry Hollon of UMCom, based in Nashville. Through InfoServ, a person can submit any question about the denomination.
‘Find-a-Church’ is separate "Find-a-Church" is offered independently of InfoServ. Both the Oklahoma Conference and the denomination offer online assistance locating churches, via "Find-a-Church" links on their homepages. At www.okumc.org, you can find basic information about churches in Oklahoma. This data is maintained by staff in the Conference Treasurer’s Office. Or search at www.umc.org. Each church is responsible for uploading its information in that national database. |
