This workshop is from 9am - 4pm at Oklahoma City University in the Small Gardner Room, Meinders School of Business. Registration fee is $12.00 with lunch included.
From the local UMW Circle to Sunday morning worship, our traditional God-talk uses male pronouns and images. Why not? These are comfortable and familiar ways to refer to God. There are, however, other words we can use to widen our understanding of God and ourselves. Come learn how a wider vocabulary transforms people's lives, and listen for how gender influences shape our own experiences of God.
This event is sponsored by Oklahoma Commission on the Status and Role of Women. The facilitator is Rev. Leigh Goodrich of GCSRW in Chicago. Rev. Goodrich has served churches in the New England Conference for 14 years. She started a new church and served there for nine years before serving a more established congregation. She serves on the Northeastern Jurisdiction’s Appeals Committee, and has been elected as delegate to General Conference in 2019, and an alternate delegate in 2016 and 2012. She was the 2015 recipient of the New England Conference’s Wilbur C. Ziegler Award for Excellence in Preaching.
Rev. Goodrich is a graduate of Boston University School of Theology, summa cum laude (M.Div.), Montclair State University (M.A.) and Purdue University (B.A). She is the proud mother of Steven and Matthew.
