Cimarron District | Oklahoma Annual Conference I Oklahoma Methodist Foundation
FOR CLERGY AND LEADING LAITY!
5 sessions: 1-2-2-2-2 hours, All sessions begin at 6pm
Conflict is an ever-present reality in the world. The United Methodist Church is not immune. In fact, the denomination is currently at the center of much controversy. Disaffiliation, distrust, disagreement, and disappointment all contribute to internal conflict. While conflict is necessary, and even healthy, it is divisive when people approach it from a polarized perspective. When issues or people are pitted against each other, conflict has the capacity to destroy relationships, and faith itself. This is true not only in many United Methodist congregations, but in the world as a whole. Yet, this is not Christ’s way. He calls us to both love our neighbor as ourselves, and to “Love one another as I have loved you.” these commands ring hollow when otherwise faithful people insist on black and white perspectives.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Conflict can be restored to its rightful place as a healthy and necessary dynamic in long-term, thriving relationships.
PRODUCTIVE OUTCOMES
“Leading from Polarization to Productive Conflict” will change the way you interact with others. As a result, you will:
