WEEK 2 - ACTS 2 - August 20th, 2018
Written by Don Kim, member of Korean First UMC; Associate Conference Lay Leader; General Conference Delegate; Jurisdictional Episcopacy Committee member
What does God wants us to experience through the challenge that we are facing today? Certainly this will not be the last challenge we will have to face because our denomination as United Methodist church is losing its foothold.
When we did not know Jesus, we lived to our own needs and desires. But we have been transformed in Christ. Therefore one day we will all stand before God to be judged to condemnation or to receive the crown of glory.
As we follow Christ, we must persevere because God has empowered us in His Holy Spirit to fully experience the transformation and blessing He longs to bring into our lives.
In order for us to see the vision and to dream dreams, we need to be Holy and become a Holy Nation. Jesus is Holy. Therefore we need to ask Jesus of what we should do. Chapter 2:38 states “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” With the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are transformed into Holy people and nation.
Our vision, which is becoming Holy, if it is without God's purpose, serves only ourselves and the world. I hope we refocus our efforts in making disciples of Jesus Christ so we can please God.
