BLESS THIS HOUSE—Following a successful capital campaign last fall, Weatherford-First UMC has purchased a new parsonage.
The Neo-Georgian style home, 2,750 square feet, was built three years ago by Adelia Beth Sanders, a longtime church member.
The brick home with three bedrooms and three bathrooms also includes an interior safe room/pantry, large covered patio, and three-car garage. A second story is prepped for future construction, if desired.
Sanders died in late November, and her children were pleased the Weatherford church was interested in her home as a new parsonage. Viki Lynn Sanders Richardson is a member of Guymon’s Victory Memorial UMC, and Jack Sanders is a member of Yukon-First. Arrangements were completed in March.
The new parsonage replaces a smaller home constructed in 1964. The District Building and Location Committee confirmed it meets Conference clergy housing standards.
A service of blessing and consecration for the home was conducted April 16 by Bishop Robert Hayes Jr., assisted by District Superintendent Chuck Nordean and Dee Ann Nordean, his wife. Lynn Brack is pastor at Weatherford-First.
The service concluded with Communion for the 70 parishioners gathered in the parsonage. Sanders family members also attended.
