Rev. Victor Cohlmia

Rev. Victor Fouad "Vic" Cohlmia, 90, of Tulsa died Dec. 2, 2009. He served churches for 28 years, retiring in 1983.

Vic was born May 29, 1919, in Keifer. Before answering the call to ministry, he worked in the grocery business and managed a shoe store.

He served churches at Big Cabin, Pensacola, Oologah, Wyandotte, Lenapah, South Coffeyville, Braman, Afton, Blue Jacket, Skiatook, Stigler, McCurtain, Muskogee-Trinity, OKC-Douglas Boulevard, OKC-Penn Avenue, and Mustang. He attended seminary at Southern Methodist University.

He married Edith Tanner on Feb. 16, 1944. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include three sons, Charlie, Ed, and Mark, all of Tulsa, and five grandchildren.

Service was Dec. 5 at Stanleys Memorial Chapel, Tulsa.

 Rex Bowen

Rex Lee Bowen, 88, of Moran, Kan., died Nov. 26, 2009. He was a lay pastor in Oklahoma for 20 years.

Rex was born Feb. 12, 1921, in LaHarpe, Kan., to Fred and Rena Bowen. He married Voylia O’Brien on July 16, 1945, in Birmingham, Ala. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and he owned a laundry business in Cushing. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a Kiwanis Club member.

He was a part-time supply/lay pastor from 1964 to 1971, serving at Sapulpa-Wesley, Agra, and Fairfax. He was appointed to Morrison from 1977 to 1984.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rex Bowen II of Owasso and George Bowen of Minneapolis, Minn.; daughter Lia Bea Franson of Tulsa; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial service was Dec. 5 at Moran UMC.

 Kathleen Coffin

Kathleen Coffin, 84, of Oklahoma City, died Dec. 14, 2009. She was the wife of Rev. Wayne Coffin, who retired in 1991.

Kathleen was born in Lake City, Fla. While attending Duke University, she met Wayne, and they were married on Nov. 20, 1947. She was a licensed real estate broker for 33 years and also was a skilled dressmaker.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Pamela, of St. Louis, Mo., and Priscilla, of Vail, Colo.; and son Scott, of Minneapolis, Minn.

Memorial service was Dec. 19 at OKC-Crown Heights UMC.

 Rev. Allen Gharet

Rev. Allen Lee Gharet, 57, of Stillwater died Nov. 14, 2009.

He was born March 10, 1952. He served in ministry at Dill City, Jet, Thomas, Granite, and Moore-First from 1989 to 2003.

Arrangements were by Brown’s Funeral Parlor, Wellston.
