Usually three teens make up the West Guthrie United Methodist Youth Fellowship. The small group, formed two years ago, is having a big impact, reports sponsor Teresa Longnecker.

The fellowship earned money through calendar sales and sponsored a rummage sale to provide $200 in mosquito nets for Africans and more than $500 in care boxes for soldiers. They sponsored a zoo trip, for elementary students and youths, and a train journey, for church families and friends. With help from adult supporters, they converted an unused room at the church for Youth ministry.

For younger church members, the fellowship organized and funded Advent and Easter parties.

The teens participated in a youth service day at OCU, surprised the congregation by offering a free pancake supper on Fat Tuesday, and were leaders at Vacation Bible School.

Their current project is a cookbook, "Recipes for God’s Children." Funds raised from sales will support local-church ministries, the church’s Apportionments, and a community teen-counseling center.
