It takes teamwork

Hennessey was one of five cities where teams of Youth Force volunteers repaired homes during the summer. Other project sites were in Tulsa, Stillwater, Lawton, and Oklahoma City. A total of 78 youths and adults served on the Youth Force Hennessey teams, called God Squads, featured in these photos. Mission service mingled with times of worship and fellowship.

Above, led by Jared Barrington, Nate Daniels, and Keli Jones, Squad G pulls for the win during an evening activity dubbed the God Squad Olympics.

At left, God Squad A made home repairs for a 90-year-old woman. On the ladder are, from lower left, Terry Koehn and Reese Baker, Lawton-St. Paul’s UMC; Parker Summers, Enid-Willow View; Jessica Woods, Yukon-First; Brooke Farrow, OKC-Wesley; J.T. Gassner, Hennessey; and Marsha Vaughn, Marlow.

At far left, Breanna Frizzell of Marlow does paint prep for God Squad C. Above that photo, roping practice engages Jeremy Hedge, right, of Hennessey and J.T. Beall of Enid-Willow View. Fellowship time one evening was spent at a farm, with campfire music and s’mores, roping tricks, and games of horseshoes. At top left, Jake Erlich, standing, and Alice Daniels work on the God Squad B project, tearing out and rebuilding a porch for a 102-year-old resident, whose centennial home sits on the original Chisholm Trail.
