| | | | Groups prepare to aid Myanmar after cyclone
On May 3, Cyclone Nargis hit the nation of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), inundating low-lying areas. The death toll is at 30,000 people and rising, and thousands of others are missing. There is much to pray for, much need for God's deliverance. Nations and international aid organizations are offering support, but communication is severely limited.
Go online to learn how UMs can respond:
* "UMCOR Provides Help to Myanmar," a story link at http://new.gbgm-umc.org/umcor/, the Web site for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). * Donations to UMCOR Advance No. 3019674, Myanmar Emergency, will help survivors of the cyclone. * "Myanmar Cyclone Blog," http://blogs.gbod.org/myanmar . This is a place for you to offer prayers, litanies, hopes, and other forms of intercession… with all who are suffering, all who are seeking to help, and all who may stand in the way, said Dean McIntyre of the General Board of Global Ministries (GBOD). | |
