Prayer for General Conference

4/21/2008

Gracious and ever-present God, the power of your Holy Spirit blessed those first Christians as they gathered in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost. I pray your same abiding Spirit will visit us in Fort Worth, inspire us, and set our souls on fire. Grant us that same blessing so we may become filled with power to proclaim by word and deed the Gospel of Christ. May your Spirit work within each and every delegate to bring forth fruits of love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, and self control.

I pray that those delegates who represent us from Oklahoma will be joined together with all United Methodists in the unity of your Spirit and the bond of peace, that they may be a holy temple acceptable to you. Bestow upon them--and all of us gathered at General Conference--the abundance of your grace, that with one heart we may desire the prosperity of the Holy Church Universal. Help us walk in the ways of truth and peace, so our work may glorify you in every way. In the name of Jesus, our Lord, we pray. AMEN
